0% on New Purchases Cards
Many credit cards will offer a 0% 'honeymoon' period when you first apply for them. The 0% APR offer may include one or both of 0% on purchases and 0% on balance transfers. You can take advantage of these offers usually for between 3 and 18 months of accepting your new Credit Card.
If a card gives you 0% on purchases it means that you will not pay any interest on your balance accrued by buying new items or services on the credit card Similarly, 0% on balance transfers means that you won't pay any interest on any balance that you transfer onto the card from another credit card or, store card.

After these periods finish the interest rate chargeable on the card normally reverts to their standard rate. This will be well documented on the statements and initial documentation you receive when you apply for the card. It should also be fully available on their website or viewable when you administer your credit card online.
When your initial 0% apr credit card is nearing its end there is nothing to stop you applying for another 0% offer card and then transferring your balance to the new card. That way you can take maximum advantage of 0% offers and reduce your balance without paying interest. Some credit cards do charge a small fee to transfer a balances but you will enjoy 0% interest rate once transferred.
